Arkansas Business 20th Anniversary Publishers Note

Arkansas Business 20th AnniversaryDear Readers,

Thank you for 20 years of making Arkansas Business part of your life.

Since 1984, we have worked to become the leading voice for business news and opinion across the state. Today, a loyal audience of more than 32,000 readers reads our print edition every week and 8,500 readers receive daily e-news through our Internet site, www.arkansasbusiness.com.

Arkansas Business has always prided itself on being more than hard-core business news and information. Our content regularly reflects other interests of business owners and decision makers - from golf to politics.

For our 20th anniversary edition - the largest in the history of Arkansas Business - we decided to take a different approach than we have with previous anniversaries.

Editor Gwen Moritz and her staff identified 20 "icons" that would be recognized as representative of the state even by non-Arkansans - people, institutions and phenomena that are uniquely Arkansas. The design of the Arkansas state quarter features five of the same symbols that we chose as icons - ducks, rice, diamonds, mountains and rivers.

This is not an encyclopedia, but an effort to offer a cross-section of Arkansas' industry, people, culture, history and geography. All of them have had a direct correlation to business in Arkansas. As you read through these stories, you will see how interconnected they are.

The 20th anniversary edition is not a news product, but a celebration of the state that has made Arkansas Business successful for two decades.

On a personal note, I've served as publisher or editor of Arkansas Business for nearly 11 of the publication's 20 years. I consider it a challenge and responsibility to make sure we meet your expectations and deliver news and information that are worthy of your valuable time.

We value the relationships we have with our readers and advertisers. Thank you for an incredible 20 years.

Sincerely,

Jeff Hankins
President & Publisher
