Regions Bank will close nine Arkansas branches at the end of January, Arkansas Area President Lynn Wright told ArkansasBusiness.com on Thursday afternoon.
The branches are among 120 that will be closed companywide, as announced by Regions Financial Corp. of Birmingham, Ala., on Tuesday.
Five are drive-through-only facilities in Jonesboro, Paragould, Clarksville, Rogers and Arkadelphia. Regions will also close its single branches in Springdale and Dover, as well as the South Main branch in Searcy and a branch across the street from its primary bank in Jonesboro.
The spare Jonesboro branch was a legacy from Region's merger with Union Planters in 2004.
Between June 30, 2008, and June 30, 2009, Regions closed four Arkansas branches, leaving 111 open.
