Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield plans to locate a new data center in Conway.
When asked about the plans, Bill Hannah, CEO of Nabholz Construction Corp., said Tuesday, "That's the plan from what I've heard. I don't have any official knowledge of that. There is going to be an announcement made on Thursday."
Sources told ArkansasBusiness.com the center would be located in The Meadows Office & Technology Park, which last year was selected as the site for a 1,200-job Hewlett-Packard service center.
Nabholz sponsors a series of CEO luncheons in Conway, and Hannah is scheduled to introduce Mark White, president and CEO of Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield, as the guest speaker at Thursday's luncheon.
Hannah said he didn't have any knowledge about the scope of the project, but The Chamber Life, a blog sponsored by the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce, said of the luncheon, "As an added bonus, this event will also be the setting for one of our always anticipated economic development announcements."
Asked about the reports about Blue Cross, Conway Mayor Tab Townsell said, "I really can't say anything about it right now."
Max Heuer, ABCBS spokeswoman, said she understood the company was locating a data center in Conway but had no other details late Tuesday afternoon.
