Boyd Metals held a grand opening of its new 36,200 square-foot facility located at the Little Rock Port on Thursday.
Boyd Metals is a privately held, full-line metals service center. Distribution operations from the new facility began on Sept. 28. The expansion eventually will increase the company's employment to 46 employees. Boyd Metals moved to this facility from its previously leased 23,000 square feet of space on Bond Street in Little Rock.
"Throughout the national recession, Little Rock's economy has grown at a record pace without many of the economic doldrums faced in other cities," Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola said in a press release. "This exciting development by Boyd Metals is proof that Little Rock continues to offer the resources businesses need to meet their demands. It's no wonder Little Rock was recently named the fourth-strongest metro economy in the country."
Boyd Metals, based in Fort Smith, has additional locations in Joplin, Mo., and Oklahoma City, Okla. The company distributes a broad range of carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and fiberglass products. In addition, the company offers first step processing services including shearing, sawing and both oxy-fuel and hi-definition plasma plate-cutting capabilities.
