Pediatrics Plus opened its new, 23,000-SF facility in Russellville on Monday.

The developmental preschool and therapy center is located at the former home of Hog Wild Fun Center. The project, announced earlier this year, was $4 million for acquisition and renovations.

"For more than 12 years now, Pediatrics Plus has been focused on improving the lives of children and their families with the goal of empowering children to lead independent, productive and fulfilling lives," Amy Denton, co-owner, said in a news release.

The center will create about 50 jobs, including positions for certified teachers, teaching assistants, a nurse, extended-care personnel, kitchen personnel, assistant directors, a therapy referral manager, other administrative personnel, and occupation, physical and speech therapists.

Pediatrics Plus offers physical, occupational and speech therapies to children birth to 21 years of age, and integrated preschool to children birth to six years of age. The organization serves more than 500 children with special needs and developmental delays with facilities in Conway, Little Rock, North Little Rock and Russellville.

Last year, Pediatrics Plus acquired the LearningRx franchise for central Arkansas. LearningRx provides "cognitive skills training to children and adults with the purpose of significantly improving brain function."
