Kevin McCarthy, Mitt Romney Campaign in Arkansas

1 min read

LITTLE ROCK – U.S. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is calling for the Keystone XL pipeline to move forward as he kicks off a series of campaign visits for congressional hopefuls in Arkansas.

On Wednesday, McCarthy praised Republican 2nd Congressional District candidate French Hill as a job creator and criticized his Democratic rival as a career politician too closely aligned with the Obama administration.

McCarthy appeared with Hill at Welspun Tubular, which has more than 350 miles of pipe awaiting the Keystone project.

Hill is running against former North Little Rock Mayor Pat Hays.

McCarthy also plans a stop Wednesday to campaign for 4th Congressional District candidate Bruce Westerman. Former presidential nominee Mitt Romney is scheduled to appear at an event Wednesday in Jonesboro for GOP gubernatorial nominee Asa Hutchinson.
