LITTLE ROCK – Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican rival Rep. Tom Cotton have agreed to a televised debate in their nationally watched fight for an Arkansas Senate seat.
Little Rock television station KATV announced Thursday that the two candidates will debate at the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville on Oct. 14. The debate will be broadcast live on KATV, Jonesboro TV station KAIT and northwest Arkansas station KHBS/KHOG.
The debate is being sponsored by the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce and will focus on domestic issues. The two campaigns have spent the past several months publicly arguing over debates.
Pryor was first elected in 2002 and is the only Democrat in the state’s congressional delegation. Cotton is a freshman congressman representing the 4th District, which spans southern and western Arkansas.
