James Moody Returns to Wright Lindsey & Jennings

1 min read

After retiring from the federal bench in March, James M. Moody Sr. has decided to return to his old stomping grounds at Wright Lindsey & Jennings LLP in Little Rock.

The law firm says the move is effective Monday.

Before he spent 18 years as a federal judge in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, Moody was a lawyer at the third-largest law firm in the state. Moody is returning to lead private mediations and arbitrations, and consult with attorneys, both inside and outside the firm, on litigation strategy. He will also serve as a mentor to younger partners and associates in the firm.

“Jim has earned the right to practice in whatever area of the law he wants to practice in,” Ed Lowther, the firm’s managing partner, said in a news release. “The fact he wants to focus on trial issues is a natural fit for him. He is an exceptional trial lawyer, and he’s gained additional insights on what to do and what not to do in the courtroom after presiding over hundreds of trials for nearly 20 years.”

Moody, a native of El Dorado, earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas in 1962 and his juris doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in 1964. He joined Wright Lindsey & Jennings, for the first time, in 1966.

His son, James M. Moody Jr., took over his chambers on the federal bench upon his retirement.
