Arkansas Children’s Hospital Seven-Year Campaign Raises $167M

2 min read

Arkansas Children’s Hospital launched the Century of Possibility Centennial Campaign nearly seven years ago with a goal to reach $160 million in donations. It’s going to hit that goal with room, and time, to spare.

The campaign wraps up Dec. 31, but at its annual meeting Tuesday, the ACH foundation’s board of directors revealed that the campaign has already raised more than $167 million. The funds have been earmarked for pediatric care, medical research, education and statewide prevention programs.

Since the campaign’s launch, it has generated 498,083 donations from 92,911 donors.

“We are so grateful to every person who donated — and will donate — to Arkansas Children’s Hospital during this campaign,” Marcy Doderer, president and CEO of ACH, said in a news release. “But if we focus on only the dollar amount, we miss the bigger picture. These funds have had — and will continue to have — a tremendous impact on the health and safety of Arkansas’ children.”

Campaign funds have already funded, or will fund, several of the hospital’s top projects, including:

  • The South Wing at Arkansas Children’s Hospital — A 258,000-SF addition that opened in 2012 and added inpatient and outpatient space, new clinics and an expanded emergency department.
  • Children’s House — This facility will house all current programs and services for victims of child maltreatment. A groundbreaking is set for early next year.
  • Angel One Transport — The helicopters used to transport patients to Arkansas Children’s Hospital have exceeded their 10-year lifespan and must be replaced. Campaign funds helped ACH purchase two Sikorsky helicopters that will start operations in early 2015.

In all, more than 700 different programs, services and activities at the hospital have benefited from the campaign.

“Each and every individual who made a gift deserves to celebrate this victory with us,” Charlie Whiteside, vice chairman of the foundation board of directors, said in the release. “The children of our state will benefit from their generosity.
