Report: Arkansas Home Sales Up 7 Percent in September

Arkansas home sales rose more than 7 percent in September compared to the same month last year, according to a report released Friday by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The number of homes sold in September increased, and so did the average price of those homes. The average price of the homes sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the group increased from $155,126 in September 2013 to $157,123 in September 2014, an increase of just more than 1 percent.

Statewide valuations in September increased by over 9 percent from last year, according to the report.

The top five counties for units sold in September:

  • Pulaski, 406 (up 6.56 percent)
  • Benton, 397 (down 1.73 percent)
  • Washington, 196 (down 5.31 percent)
  • Saline, 161 (up 9.52 percent)
  • Garland, 133 (up 13.68 percent)

The five highest average home prices for the month, by county:

  • Benton, $198,441 (up 10.11 percent)
  • Garland, $195,150 (up 7.29 percent)
  • Pulaski, $181, 621 (down 1.57 percent)
  • Saline, $175,245 (up 3.33 percent)
  • Cleburne, $175,050 (up 1.01 percent).
