Arkansas River Resource Center Receives LEED Certification

1 min read

The Little Rock Port Authority’s Arkansas River Resource Center has been awarded LEED certification, the authority announced Monday.

The silver-level certification comes through the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building program.

The Arkansas River Resource Center is a 4,926-SF facility located on 4.2 acres at the end of Industrial Harbor Drive on the banks of the Arkansas River. It is home to the Port Authority and Shortline Railroad, and features high-tech conference rooms and meeting spaces, according to a news release.

“When the Little Rock Port Authority Board of Directors decided to build the new office building, it was important to raise the bar and set a precedent for our future,” said Chris Mathews, Port Authority board chair, in the release. “Sustainability is very important to this organization, and it made sense to pursue a LEED rated building. We are excited and very proud of this accomplishment.”

Viridian provided LEED consulting, fundamental commissioning and energy modeling services for the center, which was designed by Jackson Brown Palculict Architects and constructed by Cline Construction Group.

“This high distinction is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of all members of the project team,” Chad Oppenhuizen, senior project manager at Viridian, said in a news release. “The newly constructed Arkansas River Resource Center reflects the future of sustainable development and construction for the City of Little Rock and the Central Arkansas area.”
