Arkansas Hospital Execs’ Pay Below Regional Average

1 min read

A study recently released to the Arkansas Hospital Association shows that compensation for health care executives in Arkansas is almost 10 percent below averages in the region.

The study was conducted by Compdata Surveys & Consulting of Olathe, Kansas, which used the numbers from the AHA compensation and benefits survey taken in January, according to a statement sent to Arkansas Business last week. The Arkansas numbers were compared with numbers from the region, which is Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

“Health care organizations across Arkansas may want to educate themselves and stay current on executive pay in the region, or even nationally, so as not to risk losing some of the state’s most valuable health care leaders,” Greg Wolf, managing principal at Compdata Consulting, said in the statement. “As the economy rebounds, employees are more tolerant of change and more likely to seek better employment opportunities.”

Paul Cunningham, executive vice president of the Arkansas Hospital Association, agreed.

“The study emphasizes the importance of boards of trustees looking real hard at compensation packages, particularly when you’re competing in regional, and sometimes a national, market for talent,” he said.
