Commission Approves Osteopathic Medical School at Arkansas State

1 min read

JONESBORO – The New York Institute of Technology says its proposal for a College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro has been approved.

NYIT announced in a news release Thursday that the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation has given initial approval for the college that NYIT says will ultimately allow for 115 new medical students each year in Arkansas.

NYIT President Edward Guiliano said in a statement that the institute will now focus on hiring and developing faculty and staff and work with ASU to prepare the facility that will house the program.

NYIT officials have said they plan to lease from ASU a building that’s about 86,000 square feet for the medical school.
