Doug McMillon to Speak at Walton College Conference on Retail

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. CEO Doug McMillon will be among the speakers at the 15th annual Emerging Trends in Retailing conference on June 11 at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale.

The event is hosted by the Center for Retailing Excellence at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. 

“The focus will be on the foundations of retailing to today,” Claudia Mobley, director of the Center for Retailing Excellence, said in a news release. “We are so excited to have Doug McMillon share his insights on the changing face of the retail industry. Doug began his career under the leadership of Sam Walton and holds the founding philosophy of Mr. Sam in high esteem.”

Other Wal-Mart leaders, past and present, are scheduled to appear at the conference. They include:

  • Don Harris, retired executive vice president and chief merchandising officer
  • Judith McKenna, the current executive vice president and chief operating officer
  • Andy Murray, senior vice president of creative at Walmart and former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi X

Others scheduled to appear:

  • Industry analyst Marshal Cohen from The NPD Group
  • Leon Nicholas, senior vice president with Kantar Retail
  • Campbell Hyers, founding partner and CEO of the Control Group
  • Scot Wingo, CEO of ChannelAdvisor
  • Charles Redfield, executive vice president of merchandising for Sam’s Club
