Rock Town Whiskey Called ‘Easy To Love’ by Wall Street Journal

1 min read

Little Rock’s Rock Town Distillery received a favorable mention recently in the Wall Street Journal.

An article in the WSJ touted Rock Town’s Arkansas Hickory Smoked Whiskey as one of the “Wheat Forward Whiskeys That Are Easy to Love.”

“Right out of the bottle this whiskey gives off a faint whiff of cresol, the magic marker-ish smell one detects in smoky Islay Scotches. But that quickly mellows into a pleasant quarter-mile-downwind-of-a-top-flight-barbecue-joint smokiness,” the article states.

This isn’t the first time Rock Town has received the attention of drinkers outside of Arkansas. Late last year, the distillery was recognized for producing the “2015 U.S. Micro Whisky of the Year” for its Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey.

That recognition came from Jim Murray, the author of the “Whisky Bible,” who gave the bourbon a 96.5 score. Murray’s review in the 2015 edition of the book referred to it as “[u]nquestionably one of the great micro distillery bourbons of all time.”
