Brent Bumpers’ Wicked Mix Expands in Riverdale

1 min read

Brent Bumpers’ Wicked Mix enterprise has doubled its production space at 2321 Cantrell Road, in a facility near Cajun’s Wharf. The company, now occupying 7,500 SF, employs six workers, three in production and three in the office.

Wicked Mix is a snack food combining pecan halves, cashews, almonds and other goodies and comes in three flavors.

Bumpers, the “Brent” behind Brent & Sam’s Cookies, launched Wicked Mix in late 2013. “It almost hurts my feelings but this stuff is selling better, per store, than Brent & Sam’s Cookies ever did,” he said. “Our growth is outstripping the cookie business at this point as well, this being our second full calendar year in business.”

Brent & Sam’s, founded in 1985, was sold to Lance Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina, in 2008.

Stan Roberts, president of the company, said Wicked Mix, now available in more than 40 states, was close to landing two major accounts, one regional and one national, which will be recurring orders.

The business currently produces about 1,500 pounds a week, Roberts said, but business spikes in the third and fourth quarters and production rises as well.
