LITTLE ROCK – Gov. Asa Hutchinson has made three appointments, including a top Wal-Mart official, to the board which governs education in Arkansas.
Hutchinson announced his picks to the Arkansas Board of Education on Thursday.
Wal-Mart Chief Human Resource Officer Susan Chambers of Bella Vista was appointed to a six-year term. She has been named as one of the most powerful women in business by Forbes and Fortune magazines.
Charisse Dean of Little Rock will serve a seven-year term. She has four children in the Little Rock School District and works for the conservative advocacy group Family Council.
The third appointee is Brett Williamson, who has one child attending public school in El Dorado. Williamson serves on The Murphy foundation Board, which provides higher-education scholarships to area students.
