Chris Dunn has joined Simmons First National Corp. as executive vice president for regulatory affairs and risk strategy.

Dunn comes to Simmons following a 34-year career with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

“Chris brings more than three decades of regulatory experience to the Simmons team,” Simmons chairman and CEO George Makris said in a news release. “He will play a vital role in the years ahead as Simmons continues to grow.”

Dunn began his banking career in 1981 as an OCC examiner in Midland, Texas, became national bank examiner in 1985, worked three years in Austin and became field manager of the Little Rock office in 1990.

Dunn has been the assistant deputy comptroller of the Little Rock office since July 1997. The Little Rock office, which has a satellite office in Memphis, supervises 30 commercial banks in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas with the support of 27 field examiners and office staff.

Dunn’s father was a bank examiner with the OCC from 1960-89.

Dunn graduated from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. His areas of expertise include risk management, technology, compliance, corporate governance and banking laws and regulations.
