State Chamber Investigation Follows Resignation of SVP Susie Marks

1 min read

You may have heard that Susie Marks resigned suddenly as senior vice president of programs for the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce in June.

Arkansas Business can now confirm that the resignation has been followed by an investigation into missing money.

CEO Randy Zook has repeatedly declined to comment on what he called a “personnel matter.” Marks’ attorney, Willard Proctor of Little Rock, first declined to comment and then didn’t return a subsequent phone call.

We weren’t able to nail down the amount of money involved; totals in the six figures have been bandied about, but our sources indicate that the investigation isn’t complete.

What is certain is that no money is missing from the chamber itself.

Instead, the accounts in question belong to allied organizations managed by the chamber.

No police report had been filed as of last week.

Marks’ total compensation for 2013, according to the Form 990 that the Arkansas State Chamber filed with the IRS, was $129,000.

Stay tuned.
