Hugg & Hall Gets New Site in Fort Smith

2 min read

Hugg & Hall Equipment Co. of Little Rock has found a new home for its Fort Smith operations.

Super Properties III LLC, led by John Hugg and Robert Hall, bought a 16.2-acre property at 7101 S. Zero St. Hugg & Hall paid just shy of $2.5 million to Alawest-AL LLC.

The site was previously used by the oil and gas company Schlumberger Technology Corp. It has been vacant for several years.

John Hugg was named Business Executive of the Year at the 2014 Arkansas Business of the Year awards. Hugg & Hall, an equipment rental company with $172 million in revenue last year, employs more than 400 people in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Hugg & Hall has a Fort Smith location at 2808 McKinley Ave., but business is good and an expansion will be needed. The Zero Street property has several buildings, including office and warehouse space of nearly 40,000 SF.

The property has plenty of parking space for heavy equipment, pretty much required for Hugg & Hall’s line of work.

Chris Griffin, an associate with R.H. Ghan & Cooper Commercial Properties of Fort Smith, represented Hugg & Hall in the acquisition.

Alawest was represented by Damon Wright of Nunnelee & Wright Commercial Properties of Fort Smith.

Griffin said Hugg & Hall expects to relocate in approximately 18 months. Griffin said that when Hugg & Hall started shopping for a property for relocation, the Zero Street site was an early favorite.

It’s close to the interstate and near the growing Chaffee Crossing area.

“It was quick and easy,” Griffin said. “They focused on this property. I think they knew it was a perfect spot for their Fort Smith location.”
