Online Research Tool Helps Spur Economic Development in Delta

1 min read

A new online research tool from the Delta Regional Authority connects economic developers and civic leaders to demographic and economic data.

The tool, “Today’s Delta,” was originally published as a report in April and has been translated into an online resource to help the 252 counties and parishes within the DRA footprint compete for federal and philanthropic funding, and attract business investments.

Today’s Delta is available at DRA.gov/Todays-Delta

“Strong policies and strategic community investments require solid quantitative and qualitative data for local leaders to make good decisions on policy and community development,” said DRA Federal Co-Chairman Chris Masingill in a press release. “Unfortunately though, in the Delta region, good data is not always available. This is why we have taken Today’s Delta online — to provide leaders easy access to the tools and data they need to grow their communities.”

The tool incorporates up-to-date data on population demographics, poverty, health, education and housing indicators.

To help local leaders and stakeholders best utilize the online tool, DRA is hosting a webinar on Wed., Sept. 2, from 12-12:30 p.m., to demonstrate effective use of the tool. Leaders from all eight states covered by the DRA are encouraged to participate. Register here.
