Jermain Taylor Faces More Jabs in Court

The cousins at whom Little Rock boxer Jermain Taylor fired shots last year have filed a civil lawsuit in Pulaski County Circuit Court seeking damages.

Tyrone Hinton and his son, Ahron Coley, are seeking compensation for all medical and legal costs, as well as punitive damages, incurred as a result of the incident on Aug. 26, 2014, during which Hinton was shot five times at Taylor’s house off Highway 365 just outside of North Little Rock. He survived but received serious injuries.

Hinton and Coley are represented by Little Rock lawyers Donald Campbell and Kendel Grooms.

Legally speaking, Taylor is down if not yet out.

In addition to the shooting incident at his house, Taylor has been in trouble recently for allegedly beating a man senseless at a rehab center and for threatening a family with a gun at this year’s MLK Day parade in Little Rock. Currently, he’s awaiting the results of a mental evaluation to determine if he’s fit to stand trial in the rehab center case.

His handlers promise a return to the ring. The count hasn’t reached 10 on Taylor’s career just yet, but it appears to be at eight or nine.
