Bank of Augusta Adopts New Name: RiverWind

1 min read

The Bank of Augusta has joined the crowd of banks adopting less geographically specific names.

The 80-year-old bank with $85 million in assets announced Tuesday that, effective Sept. 14, it will be RiverWind Bank.

“RiverWind Bank has the same ownership with the same officers we’ve always had. This is not an acquisition or buyout situation,” President Bill Patton said in a news release. “Our Board of Directors recognized a need to select a new name that represents our growth and stays on point with banking regulations that make expansion necessary. They simultaneously wanted to ensure we were honoring Augusta’s history. The White River has had a strong bearing on the development, recreation and entertainment of the community. Creating a name that holds to the standards of our bank’s founders was a priority in the Board’s decision.”

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s online history of the bank says the RiverWind name change was effective Aug. 4. The bank has two offices in Augusta and one in Searcy, and a second Searcy location will open later this month at 411 Hartsfield Drive.

A reception celebrating the change will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at the main office at 100 S. Second St. in Augusta and then from 2-4 p.m. that day at the existing Searcy branch at 1241 W. Beebe-Capps Expressway.
