Asa Hutchinson Heading Trade Mission to Cuba

1 min read

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson is leading a delegation to Cuba to promote the state’s agriculture in the wake of the U.S. embassy reopening in Havana.

Hutchinson spokesman J.R. Davis said the Republican governor planned to lead a delegation to Cuba later this month, but said the final dates have not been set. Hutchinson had previously announced the trip at the Arkansas Rice Expo in August.

The visit is part of a trip organized by the World Trade Center in Rogers and will include state Economic Development Commission Executive Director Mike Preston and Agriculture Secretary Wes Ward. Davis said the expenses for Hutchinson and his staff are being paid by the Republican Party of Arkansas.

Former Gov. Mike Beebe led a trade mission to Cuba in 2009.
