Acxiom Corp. of Little Rock confirmed Wednesday that it has laid off workers in Little Rock and Conway.
The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette first reported the layoffs on Tuesday. It cited a source who said the company laid off 30 people.
Acxiom spokeswoman Ines Gutzmer told Arkansas Business that the layoffs would come from the firm’s audience solutions division and described them as “part of the normal course of doing business as we realize synergies and cost efficiencies.”
She said less than 4 percent of the workforce in central Arkansas is affected.
In August, Acxiom reported a fiscal first-quarter loss of about $1 million, or 1 cent per share — an improvement from a loss of $7.6 million, or 10 cents per share, in the same quarter last year. Quarterly revenue was $197 million, up 5.5 percent from $187 million in the same quarter last year.
Those quarterly results included a 3 percent revenue decline in its Marketing Services and Audience Solutions business. The company attributed much of the decline to its international business and said U.S. sales of $159 million was roughly flat.
Acxiom executives have said the company is working to tighten its strategic direction. Earlier this year, it sold its IT Infrastructure Management business to Charlesbank Capital Partners of Boston and New York and M/C Partners.
