Dillard’s Delayed at Conway’s Shoppes at Central Landing

2 min read

If you are waiting for Dillard’s Inc. to open a 100,000-SF store at the 150-acre site of the old municipal airport in Conway, you will have to keep waiting.

If you recall, Dillard’s of Little Rock announced way back in August 2014 that it was going to be a key anchor for the Shoppes at Central Landing, which was being developed by Jim Wilson & Associates LLC of Montgomery, Alabama. Dillard’s was supposed to be part of the first 250,000-SF phase at the site.

But pieces of the project were contingent on infrastructure being completed, said Brad Lacy, the president and CEO of Conway Development Corp.

He said the road projects were being worked on and the Shoppes project was “not on hold.”

Still, it was difficult to get more information about the project. A Dillard’s spokeswoman referred questions to the developer.

Anita Carter, vice president of residential development and marketing for Jim Wilson & Associates, told Whispers that the project is moving forward but didn’t provide many details.

She said her firm continues to talk to potential tenants but wasn’t ready to release any names.

Carter also didn’t know when the project would be opened or when dirt work was expected to begin.

“All I can say is we’re working on the project, and it’s continuing to move forward,” Carter said. “Once we get to that point of … starting to move the dirt, we will.”
