Underwood Family Contributes to Walton Art Center’s $23M Campaign

1 min read

The Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville announced Tuesday a gift from long-time supporters, Bill and LeAnn Underwood and their family, designated for the center’s $23 million campaign to add 30,000-SF of space.

The campaign, “Investing in our Future: The Expansion of Walton Arts Center,” includes a new and expanded atrium lobby that connects to Dickson Street, renovations and expansion of Starr Theater, increased space for technical and theatrical equipment and new administrative offices.

Public relations director Erin Rogers said they are not releasing the amount of the Underwoods’ donation.

The completion date for the Dickson Street renovation is fall of 2016. Construction on the main building and Starr Theater will continue through the 2015-16 season with minimal impact on regular programming.

In recognition of this gift, the new plaza located south of the arts center on West Street will be named the Bill and LeAnn Underwood Family Plaza. The plaza will include a new water feature as well as public art and native plants.

“We are so pleased to be a part of the next chapter of Walton Arts Center and hope our gift will encourage others to invest in the future of our community,” Bill Underwood said in a news release.
