Sparks Adds Two to Fort Smith Offices (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. Mark J. Fowler, an OB/GYN, has joined Sparks Obstetrics & Gynecology inside Sparks Plaza on Dodson Avenue. Fowler earned his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in 1996 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Armed Medical Center National Consortium in 2000. He previously practiced at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Kayla Pipkins, a physician assistant, has joined Sparks Clinic Cancer Center in Fort Smith. Pipkins, who formerly worked in the lab at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, has a bachelor’s degree in medical technology and a master’s in physician assistant studies from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.


Dr. Tayyeba K. Ali and Dr. Ahmed A. Sallam have joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock and are seeing patients at the Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute. Both are also assistant professors in the department of ophthalmology at the UAMS College of Medicine.

Sallam has specialized training in uveitis, a form of eye inflammation that can lead to permanent vision loss.

Ali completed two surgical fellowships in cornea/external disease and uveitis at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.


Dr. Angela Frost, a board-certified radiologist, has joined the comprehensive radiology team at NEA Baptist Health System in Jonesboro. A graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences at Little Rock, Frost will work at both the NEA Baptist Breast Imaging Center and general radiology department.


Melissa Masingill has been hired by the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care in Little Rock as chief business development officer. Masingill served as vice president of public affairs at Delta Dental of Arkansas from 2009-15. She previously worked for AFMC as assistant vice president of communications and governmental affairs and served two Arkansas secretaries of state as director of communications and public affairs.


Ashley Bagwell, an advanced practice registered nurse, has joined the White River Health System’s Tuckerman Medical Clinic to provide primary care, including wellness exams, to patients of all ages. Bagwell earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing from Walden University.


Larry Betz was recently promoted to child development officer by Youth Home of Little Rock, and Stephanie Jonasson was promoted to special events coordinator.
