KATV, KTHV Introduce New Members of Morning Teams

2 min read

Elisabeth Armstrong has returned to Little Rock from Texas to be a morning reporter for ABC affiliate KATV in Little Rock. Armstrong, a Denver native whose mother’s family is from Pine Bluff, was an intern at Channel 7 in 2014.

Armstrong, who skipped a grade growing up in Denver and finished college in three years, two at Pepperdine in California and one at Colorado Christian University, said she spent summers in Arkansas as a child. Just 21, she is excited to be back at KATV, where she said she has wonderful mentors and a chance to do live shots across the state for “Daybreak.” She spent nine months reporting for KETK in Tyler, Texas, and will be doing in-depth and investigative work periodically for KATV.

Laura Monteverdi has settled into her new job as co-anchor of “THV11 This Morning,” where she joined Tom Brannon and Alyse Eady.

Before joining the Little Rock CBS affiliate in 2015, Monteverdi had been a morning anchor/reporter at KDLT in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. “Laura’s proven herself as an enthusiastic and focused reporter,” said KTHV President and General Manager Michael Caplan, who announced the move in a news release. Monteverdi, who graduated from the University of South Florida, said she was excited “to join an already amazing morning team.”

Outward Bound

In the opposite direction, three Little Rock TV professionals have taken other jobs. Ken Buffa was lured away from KARK and KLRT, Channels 4 and 16, for a post at NBC affiliate WVIT in New Britain, Connecticut, closer to his hometown of New York and to his fiancée, he said.

Jordan Bontke is heading back to Texas from KATV, accepting a job at CBS affiliate KEYE in Austin. He had come to Little Rock from Waco two years ago.

Marlisa Goldsmith, a reporter at CBS affiliate KTHV, is joining Pittsburgh NBC affiliate WPXI, where she will be a weekend evening anchor and report three days a week. KTHV bade farewell to Goldsmith on its Facebook page, wishing her luck and noting her four years at THV11.
