UA System Board Votes to Partner With Pulaski Tech

1 min read

The University of Arkansas System board of trustees voted unanimously Thursday morning to enter into a formal partnership between Pulaski Technical College and the University of Arkansas System.

The decision was made during the UA board’s regular meeting at Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas in Nashville, Ark.

“The UA System board of trustees’ vote today is a watershed moment for Pulaski Tech,” said Margaret Ellibee, president of Pulaski Tech. “It begins the process of working out the many details that must be considered as we join a large institution with a larger system. We will do so deliberately, without losing sight of our priority to ensure the success of our students. Ultimately, this partnership will make us all stronger, and our students must be the primary beneficiaries of the opportunities that will evolve.”

Donald Bobbitt, president of the University of Arkansas System, proposed the partnership to the Pulaski Tech board on March 28. The Pulaski Tech board then voted unanimously on May 11 to align with the UA System. Leadership teams from Pulaski Tech and the UA System will meet soon to establish priorities and a timeline for addressing those priorities.

Joining the UA System will help Pulaski Tech realize cost savings and value-added opportunities in areas of information technology and human resources, according to a news release from the school. The school’s mission will remain the same: to provide technical programs and the university transfer courses to students.
