Arkansas State University on Thursday announced three finalists for the chancellor position who will be interviewed on the Jonesboro campus in May.

They are Kelly Damphousse, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Oklahoma in Norman; Ronald Elsenbaumer, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington; and Alan Shao, dean of the School of Business at The College of Charleston in South Carolina.

The university would like to name the new chancellor by June 1, according to a news release.

The 21-member Chancellor Search Advisory Committee conducted a nationwide search and reviewed 52 applications. Welch said in the release that officials were pleased with the overall quality of applicants.

Shao will visit the campus May 3-4. Elsenbaumer will come May 9-10, and Damphousse will visit May 10-11. Schedule details have not been finalized.

The three finalists will meet with the committee, faculty, staff, students and community members. Those who attend the sessions may submit feedback on each finalist to the committee.

Following the last interview, the committee will meet to discuss the finalists and provide feedback to Welch.
