1 min read

BENTONVILLE – America’s Car-Mart Inc. of Bentonville on Monday reported fiscal 2017 fourth-quarter income of $5.2 million, up from $3.4 million it reported during the same quarter a year ago.

Revenue was down slightly to $153 million in 2017 from $155 million last year. Earnings per share was 68 cents, up from 41 cents a share in the same quarter of 2016.

Car-Mart, which operates 140 stores, down from 145, in 11 states, sold 12,126 vehicles during the fourth quarter, down 1.8 percent from the same quarter a year ago. Same-store revenue growth was up 1.3 percent, compared to 7.8 percent a year ago, and average vehicles sold per month per store rose from 28.2 to 29.1.

“We are encouraged by the increase in sales volume productivity and the same store revenue growth for the quarter,” said CEO Hank Henderson in a press release. “There is tremendous demand for the service we provide to our market and it is nice to see our hard work paying off with the productivity improvements.”

Henderson also said that while a store in Jefferson City, Missouri, was about to be closed, a new one was being readied for business in Siloam Springs.
