Stone Bank Expanding West Little Rock LocationLock Icon

Stone Bank’s plans for Harrison are part of this week’s look at that changing bank market (see Harrison Draws More Bank Competition.) And the Mountain View lender is also expanding in Little Rock.

Stone Bank is taking over the entire ground floor at 900 S. Shackleford Road, growing from 8,000 SF to 18,000 SF. That will be enough room for a full-service branch with more than 30 employees, Kirby Williams, executive vice president of marketing and retail banking, told Whispers.

He said a cost estimate for those renovations had not been finalized.

Stone Bank entered the Little Rock market in October 2015, when it opened a loan production office. Then the bank added offices for five executives. It expanded again to house credit analysts and offer more Small Business Administration lending services and some retail banking services.

“We’re really going to open it up as a retail bank. We have retail banking services here already, but nothing like what we have at our other locations or what you’d see in a traditional branch bank. So that’s going to be the major part of the expansion.”

He also said the bank is putting in a training center that will take up “quite a bit of space.”

Stone Bank also will put its name on the outside of the building and install an interactive teller machine in the parking lot.

The bank has piloted that technology at its other branches, including the new one it opened in White Hall in April, Williams said. He said the machine is capable of performing tasks customers would normally need a teller for, like giving exact change when they cash a check.

The customer can also request a teller outside of the branch’s regular operating hours. The teller appears on the machine via live video, broadcasting remotely from the bank’s customer service center.
