Zips Car Wash of Little Rock said Friday that it has acquired Tidal Wave Auto Spa of Orange Park, Florida, adding six car wash locations to its growing portfolio in the Sunshine State.

"We're excited to bring another great operation in the Jacksonville area into the Zips family," Jon Gray, Zips' executive vice president of strategic initiatives and memberships, said in a news release. "Tidal Wave has a great history of excellence and we hope to continue that for the residents of Orange Park."

The deal closed on Monday and comes on the heels of three other Florida acquisitions the company announced in June. Financial details were not disclosed.

Zips is one of the largest tunnel car wash companies in the United States. A tunnel car wash is a facility in which the vehicle is taken through the wash on a conveyor-type belt.

Zips operates car washes in nine states, including Arkansas, where the company was founded by CEO Brett Overman in 1994. Overman, who lives in south Florida, and Zips have been on a buying spree in the past year; it bought a car wash in Tennessee in May, four locations in San Antonio in April and 44 locations in 2016.

The 2016 total was enhanced greatly by Zips buying 31 Boomerang car washes. Zips was founded in Jonesboro but has relocated its headquarters to Little Rock after buying Boomerang, which was based in Little Rock.
