By the time you read this, Johnny Allison should have had a firsthand look at the impact Hurricane Irma had on the Centennial Bank branches in Florida.
Allison, chairman of Centennial’s parent company, Home BancShares Inc. of Conway, was planning to start a three-day trip to the Sunshine State on Saturday, almost two weeks after the storm first made landfall in the Keys.
As of Wednesday, all employees were safe and accounted for and 57 of 60 branches were open and operational, Allison said in an email.
In Marathon, the multi-island town in the Keys where Home BancShares made its first foray into Florida, the midtown branch reopened on Wednesday, but water damage kept the main branch closed. A branch at Naples on Florida’s southwest mainland remained close due to roof damage, and the branch at Big Pine Key may be closed for some time, Allison said.
