Alton Bean Trucking Inc. of Amity (Clark County) filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week.
In the initial filing, Alton listed debts of between $1 million and $10 million and assets in the same range. A more detailed filing will come later.
Founded in 1969, the family business touted its dedicated routes to places such as Texarkana and Dallas, so its drivers could be home on the weekends, Alton said on its website.
“To expand our business we have bought new trucks and trailers and for that purpose we are hiring new truck drivers,” the company said.
Creditors holding the largest claims include VFS US LLC, better known as Mack Financial Services of Greensboro, North Carolina. Its claim of $412,500 is for seven Mack trucks. TBK Bank SSB, which was formerly known as Triumph Savings Bank of Dallas, has a claim for $319,000 for 13 Great Dane trailers.
Alton’s bankruptcy attorney, Marc Honey of Hot Springs, was unavailable for comment Thursday.
