Longtime Little Rock creative director Bill Fitzgerald has been named vice president of marketing and communications for the Little Rock Convention & Visitors’ Bureau.

Fitzgerald, who has more than 30 years of experience in marketing, advertising and communications, will manage the convention bureau’s messaging, advertising, promotion and visitor services, according to a news release.

He had previously been creative director at the Little Rock marketing and branding firm Thoma Thoma, and was a longtime creative director at CJRW, where he worked on many travel and tourism-related accounts including creative campaigns for the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism.

Gretchen Hall, president and CEO of LRCVB, said in a statement that she was excited by Fitzgerald’s hiring. “Bill brings a wealth of knowledge specifically in marketing and advertising to the LRCVB,” she said, noting that Fitzgerald also worked for Heifer International and won local, regional and national recognition for his advertising and PR work. He is an arts graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.

“His experience will support our mission to attract visitors and stimulate tourism growth,” she said. Along with its role in marketing and selling Little Rock as a convention, sports and travel destination, the LRCVB manages the Statehouse Convention Center, Robinson Center, River Market and several parking facilities.
