A PopUp in the Rock event will be the occasion for Stone’s Throw Brewing to set up in Little Rock’s Stifft Station neighborhood for a few weeks to test interest in a possible outpost in the area.

Stone’s Throw, at 402 E. Ninth St., will be creating the pop-up taproom for the PopUp Stifft Station event June 16 through July 7. “We’re going to see how that goes and kind of gauge interest in the local neighborhood for a more permanent presence based on that,” said Ian Beard, an owner of Stone’s Throw. The pop-up taproom will be keeping Thursday through Sunday hours for the duration of the PopUp, Beard said.

Real estate investor Brian Teeter of Little Rock is excited about the PopUp. Teeter just bought two Stifft Station properties for $435,000, the 3,760-SF Buice drug store building at 3011 W. Markham St. and the adjacent 1,650-SF building at 3015 W. Markham, which housed the now-closed Sandalwood Forest gift shop.

Teeter plans to remodel the property and make the old Buice location the headquarters for his company. As for the 3015 W. Markham building, he’ll be leasing that out.

A number of businesses have expressed interest in the space, Teeter said, and as part of the PopUp Stifft Station, several enterprises will be setting up for a limited time in both properties.

The Stone’s Throw pop-up taproom will be located at 3016 W. Markham St., former home of Unity Martial Arts.

Stone Throw’s brewing permit allows it to have two additional satellite tasting rooms. A Stifft Station/Hillcrest outpost “would be a little neighborhood pub,” Beard said. “We could also do beer-to-go out of there, of our beer, so we could fill growlers.”
