Garver Announces CEO’s Retirement, Succession Plan

2 min read

Garver of North Little Rock announced Friday that its president, CEO and board member Dan Williams will retire in December 2019 as part of a planned internal succession strategy.

Brock Hoskins, the company’s COO and another board member, will become its president on Jan. 1. Williams will remain CEO throughout 2019, as the engineering, planning, architectural and environmental services firm celebrates its centennial year.

“After a rewarding 36-year career at Garver, including nearly eight years as president and CEO, now is the right time to begin the transition to Garver’s next generation of leadership,” Williams said in a news release. “Garver’s consciously strategic approach to leadership succession ensures a smooth transition and leadership continuity that will keep our company moving forward. Brock and I have worked together for 28 years, and I will leave the company at the end of 2019 confident that, under his leadership as president and CEO, Garver will continue to evolve and grow.”

Garver has more than 500 employees and 26 offices in 11 states. It was No. 1 on Arkansas Business’ most recent list of the state’s largest engineering firms, which is ranked by number of registered engineers in the state. It reported having 84 engineers on staff.

Hoskins joined Garver in 1990 and was named COO and executive vice president in 2012. He also also managed the company’s northwest Arkansas office, which has more than 85 employees.

“I am exceedingly proud of the distinctive culture Garver is known for in the industry, and I look forward to furthering that success as we begin our second century serving our clients, our employees, and our communities,” Hoskins said in the release.

Michael Graves will succeed him as Garver’s COO, when Hoskins becomes president in January. Graves has been with the company for 14 years, serving as vice president and regional director.

In addition, Kurtis John has joined the Garver’s leadership team as general counsel and vice president. He comes to the company from Kiewit Corp., where he has been assistant general counsel for the past seven years.
