The Ride, the Little Rock region’s “new country” radio station, will have a new crew in the driver’s seat in the mornings starting Monday, Dec. 10, when KHLR-FM launches a new show, “Brooke and Jubal in the Morning.”
The show, with hosts Brooke Fox and Jubal Flagg, was a morning staple at Seattle hits station KQMV, known as MOViN 92.5, until recently.
Steve Jonsson, general manager of The Ride and president of its owner, Signal Media of Arkansas, expects the humor of Fox and Flagg to be a hit at The Ride, which switched formats in 2015 to challenge KSSN-FM for a share of central Arkansas’ country radio audience.
“We’re thinking carefully about every aspect of the show,” Jonsson said in a news release. “Rest assured we’re still playing more music than any country station around. We’re delighted with the passion central Arkansas has shown for The Ride, and I’m confident that Little Rock will love Brooke and Jubal because it’s great radio and it’s fun.”
Luke Kelly, who hosted HKLR’s previous morning show, “Hot Mess in the Morning,” will produce the new show and become an afternoon host on The Ride. He will also perform duties as the station’s assistant program director, Jonsson said.
AJ Parker will continue her midday show on the station, which recently bade farewell to its previous morning host, Amber Glaze, who left for a host position in Tulsa.
Signal Media, based in the Riverdale section of Little Rock, operates The Ride along with sister stations KKPT-FM, 94.1, known as The Point; and KABZ-FM, 103.7, known as The Buzz.
