Top-earning Golf Caddies

With golf on our minds -- and with Jim Harris away at Oakmont at the U.S. Open, lucky joker -- we note this piece in Fortune this week on the sport's top earning, er, caddies.

Yep, even the caddies can make stupid money on the tour. The story notes that since June 2006, Tony Navarro, Adam Scott's caddy, has pulled in $442,548. Allistair Matheson, who works for Geoff Ogilvy, made $337,888.

And here's nice piece of trivia:

That's nothing compared with Steve Williams. The race car-driving, pro caddy from age 15 walks the links with Tiger Woods and made $1.27 million last year. Had he been a tour player instead of a caddy, those earnings would have put him in the top 75.

Makes you rethink those kids in "Caddyshack," doesn't it?
