Iowa State swingman Wesley Johnson has told the Cyclone coaching staff he doesn't intend to return to the school, and Arkansas is among several universities who have asked for permission to speak to the player about a possible transfer, according to records obtained by the Des Moines (Iowa) Register.

Iowa State has not granted any school permission to speak with the player as of yet, nor have ISU officials said they would grant Johnson a release.

According to the Register, schools contacting ISU about speaking with Johnson were Arkansas, Cincinnati, Marquette, Ohio State, Mississippi, Sam Houston State, Southern Methodist, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wyoming. The player cited an eroding relationship with Cyclones coach Greg McDermott for his reason for wanting a transfer.

Johnson is a 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward from Corsicana, Texas. He averaged 12.4 points and 4 rebounds per game in 2007-08. While his points average as a sophomore was nearly the same as a freshman, his rebounding dropped off by half in his second season at the Ames school.
