Hard to believe that pitchers and catchers report next month for the start of another Major League Baseball season.

An Arkansan got a bit of good news on Monday in that regard, catcher Cody Clark, son of University of Central Arkansas baseball coach Doug Clark, has received an invitation to the Kansas City Royals Spring Training Major League Camp.

Clark spent most of last season with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals and will be joined by at least one teammate, outfielder Joe Duarte, from that squad that received an invite on Monday. 

The Royals also made the announcement on Monday that the annual caravan of former and current players will make a stop in Springdale on Jan. 20. The group will be at a luncheon with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. A ticket will be required. Call (479) 927-4900 for more information.
