It would be hard to beat the last few days if you’re affiliated with the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.
Why? Look at what the organization has accomplished since Sunday:
*The Naturals (85-54 overall, 43-26 in second half) won the Texas League North.
*They have won more games in a season than any previous Kansas City Royals AA affiliate.
Here’s info on the Naturals upcoming playoffs appearance:
The Naturals will have an off day Tuesday before meeting the Springfield Cardinals, winner of the wild card spot in the Texas League’s North Division, for their first round playoff matchup. Game one is at Arvest Ballpark on Wednesday night with first pitch coming at 7:00 P.M. Left-hander Danny Duffy (5-2, 2.95) will take the hill for the game one start opposite right-hander Scott McGregor (6-5, 3.46) for Springfield.
*Also, designated hitter/first baseman Clint Robinson earned the Texas League “Triple Crown.” Here’s more from the Royals’ official site:
Robinson, a designated hitter and first baseman, finished the season leading the league in batting at .335, in home runs at 29 and in RBIs at 98.
He wrapped up the title on Monday as he went 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the Naturals' 9-0 victory over Tulsa.
Robinson, 25, is a left-handed batter who was born in Jefferson City, Mo., attended Northview High in Dothan, Ala., and also played at Troy University. He was picked by the Royals in the 25th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
Not a bad Labor Day weekend, huh?
