Arkansas defensive lineman Dequinta “D.D.” Jones has been arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. He was detained overnight in the Washington County Detention Center, according to that agency’s website.

Jones was arrested with 8.7 grams of marijuana in his pocket after being stopped at 12:37 a.m. for having “no vehicle license lights.” The arresting officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, according to the preliminary arrest report.

After exiting his vehicle, a GMC Suburban, Jones consented to a pat down. The officer felt “a soft bundle” in Jones’ right front pocket. Jones admitted to having about "a quarter ounce" of marijuana.

Bond for Jones was set at $660. He was released at 10:12 a.m.

Coach Bobby Petrino addressed the arrest on the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday. He has not met with Jones yet about the arrest.

“I’m very disappointed,” Petrino said. “It’s something we certainly don’t want to see happen, particularly in the week of the game. I’ve not had a chance to visit with him or a chance to gather any more information, but it will certainly be addressed.”

Jones, 19, has started all seven games for the Razorbacks this year. He is ninth on the team in tackles with 22.
