Ryan Mallett has impressed folks for years with his arm strength.

If possible, the arm might be even more impressive that anybody realized. Mallett will be featured on Sunday’s 9 a.m. SportsCenter as part of a Sports Science feature and the numbers are remarkable.

*Mallett was clocked on a radar gun throwing a football at 65 miles per hour.

*It takes .7 seconds for a Mallett pass to travel 20 yards.

*A Mallett pass has an angular velocity of 2,306 degrees per second. (I have no idea what that even means, but it sounds cool, right?)

Below is video of Mallett in the Sport Science lab:

No surprise that Mallett has an impressive arm.

NFL Network analyst Michael Lombardi said on Friday that Mallett had the sort of arm that teams covet, provided the quarterback’s decision making is solid.

“He can zip the ball out there,” Lombardi said. “He’s got the arm you want to build a team around.”

Mallett will showcase his arm at the NFL Combine on Sunday at 8 a.m. He’ll throw in a group with Auburn’s Cam Newton and Washington’s Jake Locker.
