KATV will broadcast the Sept. 24 ASU-UCA game.

Arkansas State and UCA figured to generate some attention when they play Sept. 24 in Jonesboro. It’s a rare in-state matchup between FBS and FCS programs and resumes the series 14 years after the Red Wolves held on for a 35-34 victory against the Bears.

KATV, Channel 7 will add to the festivities by broadcasting the game.

Here’s more from ASU and KATV:

The television broadcast will be sponsored by Centennial Bank, and the game, set for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff, is being promoted as the Centennial Shootout. The broadcast will also feature a pre-game show that will start at a time to be announced at a later date. The broadcast team is also being assembled at this time, and ASU?Athletics is in the process of securing possible affiliate television stations that may air the game.

“Arkansas State University approached KATV about broadcasting the Centennial Shootout, and we are very pleased to take the opportunity to be ASU’s media partner,” said KATV?Senior Vice President and General Manager Mark Rose. “Local programming is the most important thing we do at Channel 7. With rabid fan bases at both ASU and UCA, this game has generated great interest in Arkansas. We are very excited to be able to serve Arkansans in this new way. It’s one more example of how Channel 7 is Arkansas’s sports leader.”

ASU will host Florida international on ESPN2, Oct. 18. More on the game can be found in today's Penthouse.
