Game One of the Eastern Conference Finals blasted any hope the Miami Heat had of making any early gains on the Chicago Bulls. The star triumveriate of LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh were squashed by the trio of Bulls who call themselves "The Bench Mob" -Omer Asik, Ronnie Brewer and C.J. Watson.
Taking the first game in a 103-82 drubbing, The Bench Mob established their own law in the fourth quarter. The Chicago Sun-Times adds the details:
In that fourth-quarter rush, Asik had a dunk, Brewer had two free throws and a dunk, off a beautiful one-handed bounce pass from Watson, and Watson hit a three-pointer as the shot clock expired.
[Derrick] Rose? Who needs Rose?
“We put a lot of pressure on ourselves because when we sub in the game, if we’re behind or winning, we don’t want to be the reason that we either lost the game or lost the lead,’’ Brewer said.
The series is far from over, but Chicago has made its intents known that the stars of South Beach aren't going to razzle-dazzle anyone in the Windy City. And Ronnie Brewer is making his stand that even off the bench, he's going to play like a starter.
