Marquel Wade offered a public apology on Monday for a hit on Vanderbilt punt returner Jonathan Krause that resulted in ejection and eventually suspension by the SEC.

Wade wasn't finished saying sorry there, according to The Tennessean. He and his mother offered apologies to Krause via Facebook and Twitter.

Here’s more from The Tennessean:

“I got an apology from him and his mom … Facebook, Twitter,” Krause said. “It was his mom that sent the letter (via Facebook). It was nice of her to take her time out and send the letter.”

Krause also offered his thoughts on the play:

“The first thing that came to my mind was, ‘Really? I was nowhere near the ball.’ It is what is. It happens. It is football, you know?”

Krause seems ready to move on from this. Vanderbilt Coach James Franklin is too, judging from his recent comments. Wade and Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino are no doubt ready to put this behind them.

So, we’re closing the book on this (for now). And this time we mean it (until we have to bring it up again).
