With conference titles being won and BCS rankings escalating through the roof, it's easy to forget that – oh, yeah – basketball season is upon us.
With the way squads in Arkansas have stumbled out of the gate, maybe it's for the best that we forget about college hoops for awhile:
• With Marshawn Powell nursing an injury, Arkansas was outscored by Houston 87-78 inside Verizon Arena on Friday.
• Arkansas State drops to 1-3 following a 69-54 loss to Ohio at the Global Sports Invitational.
• And the reigning Sun Belt champions UALR got whomped by Michigan State 69-47, dropping the Trojans to a 2-3 record. (Those Spartans were always known more for their physical prowess than the Trojans anyway, if our history books know what they're saying.)
Yes, we can say it's still early, it's not even Thanksgiving and unlike football, basketball teams have a greater opportunity to make up for early mistakes. In the case of all three of the above teams, November might be better forgotten in the coming weeks.
